Savasi Island Resort

Lauded for its seclusion, pristine natural beauty and 'getting spoiled senseless' by revered publications such as Lonely Planet, the Savasi has won many accolades for being Fiji's No. 1 Small Hotel. Located near Savusavu, the resort is set on its own 52-acre island. The resort boasts of lush gardens, forest-covered hills and crystal-clear seas. And on top of everything, the resort pampers its guests with just 10 luxuriously-appointed villas. The island of Vanua Levu is less highlighted than its mainland cousin Viti Levu, leaving the natural beauty pristine and what Fiji’s beauty was 50 years ago before mass-market tourism stepped in. Besides the famed Rainbow Reef, the private island boasts of turquoise waters, numerous sandy beaches and fantastic flora and fauna that begs for hours of exploring. Despite the hype and the glamour, getting here is easy. After landing at Fiji’s Nadi International Airport, travellers have to go to the domestic terminal and fly to Savusavu. After disembarking, it’s a ten-minute cab ride across the island and a short boat-ride to reach the resort’s private island. Read More...

About Savasi Island Resort

The Savasi Island Resort offers 10 villas and a unique floating accommodation for its guests. Each of the villas are unique where it comes to views – some are perched on the island’s clifftops, some are facing the lagoon and some, like the Coral Villa and the Beach House have simply jaw-dropping visuals of the island and the Pacific Ocean. All are constructed using locally-sourced hardwood, limestone, volcanic rock and plaited palm fronds. In each of the villas, guests are pampered with king-size beds, ensuite bathrooms, split-level villa design with open-plan bedroom and living space. Outside, all villas have a covered porch, outdoor furniture and a private pool.

Besides the above, the resort also has a ‘wow’ factor up its sleeve. The decommissioned Tui Tai cruise ship has been permanently moored at the island marina and converted into a luxurious ‘floating’ accommodation called the Serenity. It offers five luxury split-king staterooms across the schooner’s two levels. Guests can also enjoy the onboard jacuzzi, cinema room, conference facilities, lounge bar and stateroom.

Dining at Savasi Island Resort

The dining at Savasi Island is as bespoke as its activities. Your personal chef will cook up a daily-changing menu or just whip up whatever you feel like having. In a choice of venues, too. Want to have a beachfront dining experience on Tuesday? Should Wednesday be celebrated with a candle-lit dinner in a secluded cavern? And if Thursday feels like lazing around, then in-villa it is. Of course, the resort does have the Reef Dining Room & bar, which is fantastic in its own right. Choices, choices…

Things to do & Activities in Savusavu, Fiji

The activities on tap at the Savasi Resort are myriad and a ‘short list’ can be checked at the Things to Do. To decide how long you’ll be staying here is dependent on how many activities and experiences you want to indulge in – and there are so many! Also, there are bespoke experiences which you cannot have anywhere else. So there’s that. Just saying. Need a teaser? The diving is off the scale, with the island being a part of a marine reserve. Then, there is the Salt Lake kayak tour down the at Qaloqalo (which means Salt Lake) River, which takes guests around the lush mangrove forests and the beautiful lake. And for the culinarily adventurous, look up the balolo harvesting event in Fiji. Yes, it’s like being surrounded by tiny earthworms which appear suddenly out of nowhere in the water. It’s their annual bloom and the harvested palolo viridis are quite harmless, but the event is as spectacular as it’s unusual. Need something less unique now? Sample from snorkelling, fishing, waterfall hiking, cookery classes, weaving coconut palm fronds into Fijian crafts, village visits and the evergreen traditional kava drinking ceremony, touring pearl farm, and kayaking. And we’ve covered just about half of the total activities, we reckon.
