Yasawa Islands, Fiji
Mantaray Island Resort
Ringed with powdery white sand beaches, the Mantaray Island Resort combines Fiji holidays with world-class diving and activities. Set on the island of Nanuya Balavau, the resort is an evergreen favourite of watersports aficionados, couples, honeymooners and families. After landing at the Nadi International Airport, travellers can choose to reach the resort either by sea or air. The Yasawa Flyer connects the island to the mainland with daily transfers, but experiential travellers can always cut the three-hour journey with a quick seaplane hop from the domestic terminal. Being on an island does mean that dining choices are limited, but let’s be very clear – the Mantaray Island Resort leaves no stone unturned when it comes to wining and dining. The resort’s menu goes deep, including continental buffet breakfast spreads, a la carte lunches, three course dinners and buffet evenings with entertainment.
But the Mantaray Island Resort’s main draw is the sheer number of activities and experiences that guests can tap. From simple swimming, snorkelling and exploring the coast with a kayak to guided scuba-diving expeditions, just choose and enjoy! There is a dedicated activities team which organises nature hikes, handicraft learning sessions, island hopping, Fijian cooking classes, guided island treks through the jungle, friendly sports competitions and so on.
For all watersports enthusiasts, we heartily recommend a manta ray diving excursion – it’s what the island is famous for. Then there are shark spotting, wall dives, drift dives and more amongst the 40-odd dive sites set just a boat ride around the island.
