Ah, Tahiti… The islands of myriad colours, adventures, stories and gastronomic delights. But should you stay at one resort and go island-hopping or do a deep dive into one island this time? To solve your Gordian knot of travel dilemmas is the Te Moana Tahiti Resort.
Offering a range of rooms and suites, the Te Moana Tahiti Resort is an excellent recommendation for almost every traveller segment– be it families, solo explorers, couples, groups and honeymooners. The resort is set on the main island of Tahiti, on its sunny west coast, facing the lagoon and the island of Moorea in the distance.
From the Fa’a international airport, it is but a short 7-minute cab ride to the resort complex. As you step in, you’ll see the resort’s massive infinity pool and the man-made ‘motu’ or islet with a pool bar and restaurant. With sweet views of the lagoon and tropical drinks on demand – guests are found more often here than their plush rooms!
Speaking of rooms at suites at the resort, travellers have plenty to choose from (as we mentioned earlier). The most basic Standard Rooms offer guests a choice between a queen bed or twin beds, an ensuite bathroom with bathtub, complimentary toiletries, plush towels and linens, tea/ coffee making facilities, WiFi access, flatscreen TV with satellite cable and desk phone.
The choices move up from there to Garden Studio rooms and Suites, Lagoon Studio rooms and Suites, One Bedroom Duplex Suites, Lagoon Apartments and Two-Bedroom Duplex. The deluxe options ply guests with spacious balconies with great views of the lagoon and the tended gardens of the hotel, separate living and dining rooms, work desks and so on.
The resort offers three venues for its guests to relax and chill out after a day of fun and excitement. The Vaitohi Tahiti is the main restaurant – it specialises in multi-cuisine fusion food and offers chef-supervised gourmet dining experiences for families, couples and groups. The Punavai Lounge bar is where travellers and locals meet up after sunset – it’s a chic, secluded bar with a nice menu of cocktails and wines, perfect to start off fun evenings. Then, the Taapuna Bar – Restaurant is the resort’s newest addition. Set on the edge of the lagoon and connected to the resort by a walkway, the Taapuna offers delightful lunches and the textbook settings for evening cocktails with a view.
The Te Moana Tahiti is set just right for travellers to launch all their island-hopping sojourns and/or explore Papeete and Tahiti to their heart’s content. We recommend going for walking tours to explore Tahiti’s architecture – it’s an amazing fusion of French and Polynesian buildings. Then, travellers can opt for island-hopping tours, jet-ski safaris, explore the coral reefs of Tahiti with underwater scooters, go for guided snorkelling tours and kayak up and down the lagoon.
Couples and those on a romantic escape to Tahiti and Her Islands should definitely sign up for a sunset tour of the lagoon on a yacht or a catamaran. Trust us, all you need is a bottle of bubby and some Barry White tunes to complete the magic circle. And from July to October, travellers can sign up for whale watching tours. These gentle giants come to Tahiti’s warm waters to give birth and raise their calves – watching them is often a life-changing experience.
This resort is a smart, chic option for travellers looking to explore Tahiti’s mainland and other islands at their leisure; or as a transit/ launch point for all their adventures in Moorea, Bora Bora, Rangiroa and other islands.
