Sheraton Reopens Heritage Samoan Hotel Post Multi Million-Dollar Renovation

The Sheraton Hotel & Resorts, a part of Mariott Bonvoy group, announced the official reopening of the iconic Aggie Grey Hotel post a US$8.5 million renovation. The Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows encompasses 149 guest rooms, 23 private bungalows and three suites, each with private balconies or patios. The renewed Aggie Grey’s design elements blend traditional island motifs with modern design tapa cloth patterns, lending a tropical touch and contemporary elegance. 

Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows also unveiled the poolside restaurant Feast which offers daily buffet breakfasts, a la carte meals and themed buffet dinners two to three times a week. The hotel now has a lagoon-style pool with a swim-up bar and over 500 meters of event space for corporate and social events. 

Sunil Rawat, the Cluster General Manager for the Sheraton Samoa Resorts, said, “Whilst we pay tribute to the legacy of Aggie Grey, it is exciting to relaunch a renovated world-class product that offers a revitalised experience epitomising the timeless treasure of Samoa and uniquely positioned as the grand jewel of Samoa.”

This Samoan landmark began operations in 1933, helmed by the Samoan entrepreneur and tourism pioneer Aggie Grey. It quickly became a regular meeting place for American Servicemen stationed in Samoa during WWII and in the later years, gained the patronage of celebrities and VIPs, including Marlon Brando.

Rawat further adds, “The global positioning of the Sheraton brand as the world’s gathering place provides great relevance for the hotel as Samoa’s original gathering place and we look forward to hosting locals and international guests delivering Samoan hospitality to an international standard.”
