Listen to Fiji’s Iconic Likuliku Lagoon Resort Reopens May 1, Unveils $10M Transformation

The Likuliku Lagoon Resort is reopening after a massive FJD $10M revitalization project, offering guests refreshed villas, a new dining venue, and an interactive conservation hub among a host of new features.

Ahura Resorts, the Fijian owner-operator of Likuliku Lagoon Resort, had closed the resort for a period of three months to completely refurbish and renovate resort facilities – and it’s reopening for holidaymakers from May 1.

All bures, Fijian for villas, have been refurbished with new wooden flooring, wallpaper, new bath fittings and amenities, and paintjobs. Additionally, smart TVs, sound bars and expresso coffee machines complete the bures’ interior redo. 11 Beachfront Bures have been upgraded to deluxe versions with their own private plunge pools – bringing the total number to 29. The overwater bures’ bathroom pavilions have been upgraded with new bathroom amenities, too. The remaining Beachfront and Deluxe Beachfront Bures have been ‘brushed up’ with cutting-edge, long-lasting synthetic thatching.

And for families with kids and believers of Netflix and chill, the resort has added additional points of access for its Starlink internet connectivity. High-speed internet on a remote island in the Mamanucas, Fiji – yes, please!

Likuliku Lagoon Resort will also be unveiling its new open-kitchen restaurant Saluwaki; it will feature a menu highlighting island-grown produce and freshly-caught seafood from the resort’s surrounding waters. Guests can explore Fijian-inspired Asian tapas, and a new set of curated cocktails and cellar wines. The 28-seater restaurant has an exclusive ‘once during a stay’ dining event as a part of the resort’s all-inclusive dining offering.

Fijiana, Likuliku’s signature restaurant, now boasts of an upgraded breakfast buffet area, an all-new terrace deck, along with refreshed tiling and lighting elements. The lagoon-facing Dua Tale Bar has also received a full glow-up, along with new furnishings. In other public facing aspects, the resort’s main pool and all common-area bathrooms have also been fully renovated.

Ahura & Likuliku: Giving Conservation A Needed Boost

Moving onwards, the Na Vanua Conservation Hub, a partnership with the Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation, immerses guests in local conservation and Fijian culture. Its interactive space details reforestation, mangrove restoration, iguana preservation, coral planting, herb garden tours, and waste/recycling. The hub champions community, especially the village kindergarten, and fosters sustainable partnerships with indigenous landowners. A beautiful dawn for mindful journeys.

Embodying the Foundation’s ‘Above the Sea, Below the Sea, and Community’ ethos, the hub underscores sustainability and cultural preservation. The waters around Malolo Island, a protected zone by the Paramount Chief, including Mociu (Honeymoon Island) for resort guests, fall under biodiversity conservation.

In another bit of development to look forward to – from June onwards, both Likuliku and Malolo Island Resort will produce complimentary still and sparkling water in recycled glass bottles from their own plant, supplied daily to all rooms.

Ahura Resorts Managing Director & Resort Owner Tony Whitton said, “We’re thrilled to welcome guests back to Likuliku Lagoon Resort following this significant revitalisation. These changes reinforce our commitment to providing an exceptional experience as one of Fiji’s premier and iconic luxury resorts and we look forward to continuing offering world-class experiences as Fiji’s tourism industry continues to thrive.”
