The resort is set on the island’s waterfront, overlooking the bay. It has its own private beach a short drive away from the resort where travellers can sunbathe and laze around to their heart’s content. The resort concierge and our South Pacific Specialists can arrange island excursions, tours and village visits to showcase the island’s history, culture and natural beauty. Highlights include half-day and full-day tours see Yap’s ‘stone money’; the thatched men’s houses, WWII relics and even island-hopping.
But the real deal is underwater exploration, as Micronesia and Yap have some of the greatest diving spots and unexplored reefs and caves. The resort and its allied Yap Divers have charted and named scores of dive sites, such as the Millenium Gardens, Pelaek Corner, Rainbow Reef, Samakai Wall, Stonehenge, Sunrise Reef and so many more. The warm, clear waters also make for hours and hours of fun snorkelling, night or day. Check with us about availability for night snorkelling safaris, too.
In addition, sport fishing is another leisure opportunity to add to the list of things to do at the resort. Game fish are plentiful in this area – the resort’s in-house Yap Anglers provide half-day and full-day tours on demand. If you’re visiting Micronesia for the first time, our South Pacific Specialists have prepared a helpful blog ‘First-Timers Guide to Micronesia – How to Get There & Things to Do‘. When it comes to dining, take in one of Micronesia’s most unique restaurant and bar attractions – the Mnuw! Originally a 55-metre Phinisi schooner from Indonesia, the docked beauty now holds three dining decks where travellers can choose from Asian, local and European cuisines. It also has two bars and the resort’s lobby offers a fully-fledged microbrewery with their unique island-themed light and dark beers.
