About Beqa
The island of Beqa is the lip of a dormant volcano, the edges making a tranquil lagoon of crystal-clear aquamarine intensity. It makes for picture-perfect postcards of boats floating on sheets of glass, the shadows hanging a few feet below on the white sandy bottom of the lagoon.
Measuring just 36 square kilometres across, Beqa is often ignored for the flashier cousins of Mamanucas and Yasawas. But it is here where the true spirit of tropical relaxation can be found. There are no roads, no cars, no traffic (obviously!), the resorts have no TVs and Internet is only available at the main communal huts of resorts. But to make up for the missing modernities, Beqa boasts of world-class diving, surfing, hiking and fishing.
Hotels and Resorts in Beqa
The small island of Beqa holds over nine villages and a few idyllic resorts. The Beqa Lagoon Resort lies sandwiched between idyllic villages, with travellers landing at its coral reef jetty amidst a warm Fijian welcome with songs and flower leis.
The adults-only Royal Davui Resort offers a limited inventory of spacious cottages and villas to ensure privacy and a private island-like tranquillity. Plus, there’s also the beautiful Lalati Resort!
The island and its beauty also encourages visitors to know more about the Fijian way of living, its history and culture through stories and songs, nature walks and village tours – an imperative for cultural aficionados!

Highlights - Beqa Island, Fiji
One of the many draws of the island is the show of Fijian firewalkers. Only performed by the immediate male family members of the village priests, it is a breathtaking spectacle to watch warriors walk over red-hot stones and flames unscathed. Although not exclusive to Beqa (because traditions spread!), watching the show at the home of the fire-walkers is an inimitable experience.
