Mangaia Villas

From Mangaia’s airstrip, the resort is barely a 5-minute drive. The villas are modern and come with a choice of double beds or single twin beds. The spacious ensuite bathroom features tiled flooring, separate shower, towels, wash basin and a vanity mirror. Besides the above, amenities include a separate living room with sitting furniture, a fully kitted-out kitchen and a kitchen island, ceiling fans, flatscreen TV, WiFi access (paid) and tea/coffee making facilities.

Activities & Things to do at Mangaia Villas

Besides the rest and relaxation, there’s plenty to see, eat, do and experience in and around the island. The harbour and it’s strip of golden sand beach is under two kilometres away, it’s an excellent spot laze around watching ships sail in and go for a swim to cool off. Then, for first timers to Mangaia, we’d recommend a guided tour of the island’s three picturesque villages of Onerua, Iviroa and Tamarua. The island’s extensive cave system also holds much of their history – go with a trained guide so that you get to know about how the caves were used as burial grounds and the legends associated with them.

Adventure lovers would be loath to miss a chance to swim at the Tuaati Rock pools; there are a few natural freshwater pools near the harbour which are excellent for swimming, too (but these are a little frigid, so be careful!) Now, if travellers want to know more about the island life, then there are so many great tours available – from visiting a taro marsh farm to a traditional ‘marae’ or a local island cultural dance show and more!
