The Brando – a boutique luxury resort in Tahiti & Her Islands, small ship specialist Aranui Cruises, and Fiji represented the South Pacific in travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards for this year.
Aranui Cruises, which operates the Aranui 5 expedition cruise ship, took the tenth place in the awards’ small ship line category. The ship had gained considerable fame and limelight recently when it served as a floating hotel for the Paris Olympics competing surfers in Teahupo’o, Tahiti.
The Brando continued its unbroken eight-year streak of featuring in CN Traveler’s best resorts in the world. Set in Tetiaroa, the Hollywood icon’s eponymous island resort hosts discerning travellers, celebrities seeking seclusion, culture enthusiasts and the occasional marine biologist visiting to study the newest giant clams. With picture-perfect beaches, crystal-clear waters, luxuriously-appointed villas and a host of activities, it’s little surprise that the Brando has gotten the 26th place in the top 50 resorts of the world.
In the race for the best islands in Australasia and the South Pacific, Fiji won the crown for 2024. Cook Islands, Bora Bora and Moorea in Tahiti & Her Islands, and Tasmania made up the rest of the list of the prettiest islands for this year’s edition. With resurging traveller numbers and its ebullient ‘bula’ approach, Fiji leads in getting happy tourists back to the South Pacific. And while we’re in Fiji, the lovely Yasawa Island Resort got the 9th place in the top resorts’ category for Australasia and the South Pacific.
